Last summer revised regulations on “Objectivity in Research” were issued by the federal Public Health Service (PHS). These conflict of interest regulations which will go into effect on August 24, 2012 differ in many ways from the PHS conflict of interest regulations that are currently in place. A policy for implementing these regulations at UCLA has been drafted. It is aligned closely with the regulations which can be found at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website.

Draft UCLA Policy 926 “Public Health Service Regulations on Objectivity in Research” is attached for review by the campus research community. If you have comments or suggestions about ways in which the policy might be made clearer, please write to rpchelp@research.ucla.edu by July 1, 2012.
